Economic Development Strategy

The City of North Vancouver has a strategy for providing a positive environment that supports local business, creates new opportunities and enhances quality of life in the community. Operationally the City is a partner in the Economic Partnership North Vancouver for Economic Development initiatives.

Overview

The City's Economic Development Strategy (EDS) identifies a wide range of opportunities for both new and existing businesses to grow and thrive. It takes a proactive approach to implementing those opportunities, but also helps to ensure that costs remain competitive and high quality infrastructure is in place to support investment, employment and partnership opportunities.

Social, economic and environmental needs and interests are well integrated into the strategy, as is support for the City's Official Community Plan, Social Plan, Transportation Plan and Environmental Programs.

There is an emphasis on collaboration: the EDS identifies opportunities for the City, the private sector, other levels of government and community organizations to work together to build the kind of local economy that will support business development, create benefits for all members of the community, and provide a positive climate for business growth and long-term economic sustainability.
