Bylaws

Bylaws are laws created by local governments to plan, govern and maintain safety within communities. The bylaws of the City of North Vancouver are enacted to administer and regulate the activities within the boundaries of the City.

The most frequently requested bylaws are regulatory bylaws. Common topics include utilities, signage, animal control, and licensing.

Bylaw Services is responsible for the enforcement of the City’s bylaws. Bylaw Officers work to educate the community about bylaws, enforce fairly and consistently, and resolve any bylaw conflicts in a collaborative way.

Consolidated Bylaws

As bylaws are amended from time to time, consolidated bylaws are compiled for convenience, consisting of the main bylaw and all amendments made to the bylaw. Essentially, a consolidated bylaw is created for ease of reference, but it is an unofficial version of the bylaw.
