Planning and Development

As the City of North Vancouver grows and changes, the Planning Department supports and oversees the functions of long-term land-use, development, community, transportation and environment planning and policies.

Community planning includes social, youth, and senior housing initiatives. Transportation includes planning and design for all modes of transportation, and on-street parking. Environment includes corporate and community climate protection and resilience, development of environmental policies and programs, zero waste planning and outreach initiatives. The City’s Official Community Plan is coordinated by this department.

Planning undertakes negotiation of land use and development proposals received from residents and developers, and also implements long term plans and objectives as directed by Council.
