Capilano Community Services Society

Capilano Community Services Society is a registered non-profit society serving the three municipalities on the North Shore: the District and City of North Vancouver, as well as the District of West Vancouver. The organization began in 1970 as a grassroots response to the needs of the Lower and Upper Capilano Area for support to both youth and seniors in the community.

Enhancing the quality of life on the North Shore since 1976, North Shore Community Resources, a registered charitable society, has provided information and programs serving the people of our community across the life span. The North Shore Community Resources Society is located on the 2nd floor at Capilano Mall.

Services provided include Child and Parent Programs, Seniors and Caregivers, Community Legal Services, Volunteer North Shore, and other community resources such as the Community Tax Clinic, Affordable Housing Advocacy, and Information North Shore.

North Shore Crisis Services Society

Since 1979, North Shore Crisis Service Society has been providing support and services to women and their children fleeing abuse. We have an 18-bed transition house, a second stage housing program, outreach programs, and a Children Who Witness Abuse program. As well, we run the Good Stuff Connection Clothing Program and Thrift Shop, open 7 days a week, at 154 West 3rd Street. The North Shore Crisis Services Society is a registered charity.

North Shore Harvest Project

Harvest Project is a registered charity on the North Shore that provides food, clothing and client care services to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. These core clients face serious life challenges and are usually in a state of transition. While providing them with food and clothing during this period, the clear focus is to work with them to set goals, direct them to the appropriate support services or agencies and assist them in the process of rebuilding their lives. Harvest Project provides a hand up.

Harvest Project operates with a small staff and over 150 regular volunteers who help keep the programs running effectively. Financial gifts and in-kind contributions are always welcome.

North Shore Housing Centre

Located at the corner of Bewicke and West 2nd Street, the City's permanent North Shore Shelter & Transitional Housing provides a warm, safe and comfortable refuge for those in need. The facility provides temporary shelter, food and services for up to 25 people, as well as an additional 15 temporary beds during extreme cold weather conditions.

North Shore Neighbourhood House (NSNH)

North Shore Neighbourhood House (NSNH) is a not-for-profit registered charity serving the North Shore community since 1939. The NSNH has a long tradition of providing social, recreational and child care services to North Shore residents. The Agency promotes a sense of community, cooperation, respect and mutual understanding through the provision of programs and services designed to meet the needs of the individual and the community as a whole.

North Shore Peer Assisted Care Team (PACT)

PACT is a mobile community-led team launched on November 4, 2021, that responds to crisis calls related to mental health and/or substance use across the North Shore. PACT is an alternative to emergency services that pairs a mental health professional and a peer worker to provide trauma-informed support to individuals 13+ and above in the North Shore.

North Shore Restorative Justice Society

Restorative Justice is a philosophy that looks at crime and conflict as a breakdown between people and relationships. Restorative Justice acknowledges that when a crime occurs it impacts the victim, community, and offender, and therefore in order to resolve or to start to heal the harm, all people affected need to be part of the conversation.

North Shore Salvation Army

Located at the corner of West 12th Street and Lonsdale, the North Shore Salvation Army Community & Family Ministries has been serving North Shore residents for 97 years. Community outreach services include food hampers, food bank by appointment, coats and backpacks for kids, addictions, rehab and outreach in addition to free informative courses and programs.

North Shore Women's Centre (NSWC)

For more than 30 years, the North Shore Women's Centre (NSWC) has been a valuable community resource, providing essential services for women who need support and guidance. Drop-ins are welcome with dedicated staff and volunteers on hand to answer questions and provide support. Numerous resources are available, including information pamphlets and forums. The centre also organizes fundraising events throughout the year.

North Van Arts

North Van Arts is a social-profit, charitable organization committed to serving emerging and established artists in our community since 1969. We connect our community to the arts through exhibitions, artist-led education, community events like the North Shore Art Crawl, the Anonymous Art Show, and Art in the Garden; an Art Rental programme, a music therapy program, a film series, and special projects like the North Shore Culture Map, an on-line GIS map that will highlight culture throughout the North Shore (launch March 2020).

North Vancouver Museum & Archives

North Vancouver's Museum explores the interactions between people and place that have shaped North Vancouver's history, create its present and will define its future. School programs may be booked at 604-990-3700 ex. 8016. The Archive is located in the Community History Centre, 3203 Institute Road, Lynn Valley. Visitors and researchers may access thousands of photographs, maps and archival documents there.

Silver Harbour Seniors' Activity Centre

The mission of Silver Harbour Seniors' Activity Centre is to inspire and enhance the physical and mental well-being of adults 55 plus. We have over 70 different programs and activities designed to keep you active, stay mentally fit, develop your creativity and make new friends. We also offer a number of helpful services including meals and refreshments, legal advice, friendly visiting and more. And we organize special events including dinner dances, special teas, bus trips, informative lectures, and practical workshops.
