Cinelab
Cinelab is a two-week summer filmmaking program for aspiring artists aged 14-19 presented by The Cinematheque, in partnership with SFU School for the Contemporary Arts. Get more info on courses and the application process on the Cinelab website.
Student Filmmakers will be guided through the complete filmmaking process, from scripting to directing, from lighting to editing. The Cinelab will provide an inclusive, welcoming, and creative space with professional equipment and experienced artists to facilitate the program. Established professionals from the Vancouver creative scene will deliver masterclasses.
The program is offered twice in the summer with 16 youth per session:
- Program 1: July 8-19, 2024
- Program 2: July 22-August 2, 2024
The application deadline is June 14, 2024 or until the programs are full. If no spaces are available you can be added to the waitlist.
City Library Filmmaking Workshops
These are five day filmmaking workshop for youths in grades 7 to 12 in the City. Young filmmakers create an original short film with the support of experienced professionals. In small crews, participants will be guided through the filmmaking process, from scripting to shooting to editing.
This workshop is offered twice annually:
- Workshop 1: March 2024
- Workshop 2: August 2024
Presented by the North Vancouver City Library in partnership with The Cinematheque, these workshops are fully funded by the City of North Vancouver through donations made by productions filmed in the City.
