Streets & Sidewalks

Our transportation network is comprised of a complex system of streets, sidewalks, and other pathways. These facilities are used by pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, wheelchair users, transit users, and other individuals. To protect the safety of users and to maximize the longevity of our physical infrastructure, proper use and maintenance of our transportation system is required.

The City has various regulations and best practices regarding boulevard maintenance, bridge load ratings, street use, and the installation of temporary signs and street lights. More information about these topics can be found in the pages of this section and in the Street and Traffic Bylaw.
