Using Space to Keep Pedestrians Safe

May 14, 2020

We’ve made changes across the City to provide a more comfortable experience for pedestrians and to support physical distance requirements. Here’s what we’re doing:

Extra Space on Lonsdale

There's now more room in Central Lonsdale for patrons and pedestrians to physically distance near local businesses. We've temporarily removed some of the parking spaces in front of local grocers, designating these areas for patrons to safely queue.

More Room on Wallace Mews

Wallace Mews is temporarily closed to vehicles to allow more space for pedestrians and cyclists at The Shipyards. Many businesses in the area are open, with modified services. Parkades are open, with access via Victory Ship Way.

Changes at Grand Boulevard

We've created more room for pedestrians and cyclists along Grand Boulevard. The northbound lane of West Grand Boulevard is closed to vehicles so that cyclists may use this lane, freeing up the bike routes for pedestrians. The closure now extends between 19th and 23rd, giving pedestrians more room on the Green Necklace to physically distance.
