I have always believed communities are about people. Together, we have worked hard to build a caring, inclusive and connected city by putting people and community first.

That is more important today than ever. These are challenging times, and many people are having to make difficult choices just to get ahead. We need a city that makes life easier and supports people at every stage of life. That means continuing to deliver housing that meets the needs of families, youth, and seniors who call our city home - or hope to. It means working collaboratively with other levels of government to improve transportation, and to make childcare and essential services more affordable and accessible. It means protecting our natural environment for future generations, creating parks, streets, and public spaces that bring people together and builds community, and supporting local businesses while creating opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs to invest here.

I believe every generation should see themselves in our city's future - and know they belong.

I’m running for Mayor because I believe it’s time to step in and help make the City of North Vancouver work better for the people who live, work and raise families here.

My interest in public policy and local government goes back decades. I ran for election in 1996, served as Policy Director for the Progressive Democratic Alliance, represented the party on Elections BC’s Election Advisory Committee, and hold an SFU degree in Human and Economic Geography and Business Administration.

Today, two issues stand out: transportation and housing. North Shore traffic has become a daily constraint on residents, families and businesses. The City and District need to work more closely together on transportation, infrastructure and shared services, with practical solutions that make it easier to get around.

We also need housing that gives families room to stay, grow and build a life here. Planning should begin with the needs of people who already call North Vancouver home, while preparing responsibly for the future.

I've called North Vancouver home for most of my life.

I'm frequently asked why I'm running. After a long career in business, I'm stepping away from it to serve this community again. Many people have told me their voice doesn't matter at City Hall. I think they have a point. I love this community and I have the experience and temperament to bring the leadership that this city needs to put residents and businesses at the centre of their focus.

I put my employees first for thirty years running businesses, and I was recognized for my servant leadership style. I bring that same instinct to serving as strata council president today, in a mixed-use building. Before that, I served as an elected school trustee and on our library board, known as the voice of reason for listening to a room and voting on the merits.

Show up. Regular Meet the Mayor events, for my full term, not just the campaign. Listen. Meaningful public input before decisions are made, not after. Lead. Pragmatic, disciplined council and community leadership - business acumen, not talk.

I don't accept developer donations. City Hall shouldn't owe anyone but the residents and business owners it serves.

Every four years, we vote for a new City Council. A Councillor’s job isn’t to play politics, serve interest groups, or follow slates and lobbyists, it is to represent you.

When looking at slates and interest groups on municipal committees, ask yourself: Are they truly representing you, or pushing a pre-set agenda that ignores your needs and wants?

You shouldn’t wake up to sudden developments in front of your house without warning. Decisions at City Hall must be made transparently and accountably. Government must work for residents of North Vancouver, not agendas.

It has been a privilege to serve my community as a member of City Council.

I approach each issue before Council by listening to the public, applying independent thinking, common sense and using my experience in local government and business to seek the best possible decisions for our community.

I am concerned about the high rate of development, increasing traffic congestion, lack of parking and challenges with new paid parking bylaw regulations. Safe streets, paths and sidewalks, conflicts between cars, pedestrians, cyclists and electric scooters. The need for truly affordable housing, climate change action, increased child care, protecting trees, reducing tax increases, and more effective public engagement on important issues.

I’m pleased our new amazing Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre and Silver Harbour Senior’s Centre finally opened. Personally disappointed new HJCRC doesn’t include a 50M pool and second sheet of ice for Curling or Hockey, as I had previously supported.

Finally, I fully support a truly independent public inquiry about Waste Water Treatment Plant costs, reducing future financial impact on our taxpayers and review of Metro Vancouver Regional District structure.

I'm Tammy Bentz and I'm running for North City Council because I love North Vancouver. I'm ready to be a steward of our community with a bold, practical, and accountable voice at City Hall.

I've called North Vancouver home for over 25 years. As a parent, educator, communications professional, and community volunteer, I understand the importance of protecting what makes our city special while preparing for its future. Thirteen years ago, Anna Boltenko chose North Vancouver as home. Three months after receiving Canadian citizenship, she first ran for Council. Hello, my name is David Brun. I am a long‑time North Vancouver resident with deep family and community roots. My wife Karyn, an Education Assistant in School District 44, and I are raising our two sons, Jack and Sam. Jack has recently graduated and is exploring post‑secondary options, and Sam is currently attending Carson Graham. Many residents may have seen me around the community with my black Labrador guide dog, Nadia.

I attended high school and post‑secondary institutions in North Vancouver before beginning a varied career that included small‑business ownership, real estate, and more than twenty years with TD Canada Trust, where I served as Customer Relations Manager for the Pacific Region. For the past nine years, I have been co‑founder of Gateway Navigation CCC Ltd., a social‑impact company focused on inclusion, accessibility, training, and employment.

As an elected volunteer Board member and Treasurer for Cypress Gardens, I focus on sound governance supported by audited financial reporting and pragmatic decision‑making for maintenance and replacement planning, with a commitment to transparency and meaningful owner involvement.

I initiated the City's living wage certification, expanded childcare on City lands, strengthened supports for tenants displaced by redevelopment, restored City funding for school playground upgrades and launched the Multicultural Community Festival task force.

I am passionate about North Vancouver and want to make it the best it can be for everyone: as a community, a place to raise families, and to live a good life.

I have already served on City Council, for two terms ending when I did not run for re-election in 2014. Prior to that I served on the School Board and the NorthVan Recreation Commission.

I am a volunteer at North Shore Neighbourhood House, helping people with tax returns, and at St Andrews Church delivering bread. I know many people that are struggling in our community. Better--not necessarily more expensive--government could do more to help.

I am a CPA, former banker, with experience in mining, forestry, funerals and renewable energy. Today I help companies and First Nations with banking and finance challenges as an independent consultant.

Some say North Vancouver is the best place to live in Canada. I believe that is true, but not because of our local governments. We who are blessed to live in a place that has so much, should work together and show the world how truly good government can be a source of pride and an example to the world.

Jessica McIlroy has served on North Vancouver city council since being elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. Outside of council she works as a director of government relations with one of Canada’s leading national clean energy think tanks. I grew up in North Vancouver and live with my spouse, children, and retired mom in my childhood home. I know just how hard it is for families to stay in North Vancouver in affordable homes that meet their needs.

Too many of our younger residents, workers, and friends are being priced out of our community. This must change quickly if we want to address the challenges of supporting an ageing population, reducing commuter traffic, improving affordability, and maintaining our cohesive community character.

We can do this by growing differently – with housing policies that encourage the types of homes people need, reduce costs and delays for new homes, protect existing affordability, and increase non-market housing options.

I have lived in North Vancouver for over 40 years, and I love this City. First elected to Council in 2022, I listen to residents, think independently and stand up for residents.

I have 35+ years of experience, including teaching project and business management at Langara College and a lifelong commitment to North Vancouver. I chaired the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Commission and City Library Board, and authored North Vancouver’s Lonsdale Neighbourhood, a local history book.

I supported North Shore Neighbourhood House redevelopment, including housing for families and workers. I championed pedestrian safety, accessibility, mature tree retention and heritage preservation. I raised concerns about wastewater treatment plant costs and strongly supported calls for an independent public inquiry.

My first term demonstrated the value of independent thinking. On pay parking, I listened to residents and businesses and advocated for 30-minute free curbside parking and 3-hour free parking at Harry Jerome. I opposed the Swim Deck project after concluding that its cost estimate was conceptual and not sufficiently detailed. I stood up for displaced tenants.

My second-term priorities are public input, traffic flow, transit, affordable housing, protections for displaced tenants, more trees and parks, business vitality, and stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Our school are the heart of our community and the decisions made by the Board of Education have a direct impact to the students, families, teachers and staff. The children are the future of our community, I will bring an open mind and willingness to listen and I am committed to work with the teachers, families, educators, staff and fellow Trustees. We need to plan for the future needs of our growing community.

My working experience as a Porter and Ward Aid at Lion's gate Hospital, I have been an active member of HEU, which I listen, support and advocate for my fellow workers, for safe and inclusive work place. I believe in working respectfully, towards fair and practical solutions, this has strengthen my communication and leadership skills.

Candidate Statement

I’m running for School Trustee because because I’ve spent years volunteering in our schools, including serving as PAC Chair at Westview Elementary and previously as a Big Sister. I’ve had the opportunity to work with parents, teachers, principals and district staff. I’ve seen how much can be accomplished when people listen to each other and work toward a common goal.

My career as a mortgage broker has also shaped how I approach problems. Every day I help people navigate complicated decisions. I listen to what matters to them, explain their options and help them find solutions that work. I’ve learned to ask questions, look at the details and take responsibility for the decisions I make.

I don’t have all the answers but I know that good decisions start with listening to different perspectives, finding common ground and keeping students at the centre of the conversation.

I would be honoured to bring that approach to the Board and advocate for our community to ensure our strategic direction aligns with our shared vision.

I am a proud indigenous of the Cordillera Autonomous Region of the Philippines, born and raised in Kalinga province. I graduated Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy at University of Santo Tomas and undergraduate of Law at San Beda University. We migrated in 1991.

My passion on social justice and human rights have urged me to pursue Criminology in Douglas College but being new to Canada and a working student has a toll on me. I worked and earned 22 years experience in payroll, staffing and human resources in unionized setting.

Strong Schools. Connected Communities.

I am seeking re-election as a North Vancouver School Trustee to build on the progress we have made over the past four years.

It has been an honour to serve as Trustee and Board Chair. I believe good governance means listening, asking thoughtful questions and working collaboratively to make decisions in the best interests of students.

I am proud of what we have accomplished: opening Cloverley Elementary, expanding schools and childcare spaces, and creating more opportunities for students through skilled trades and career pathways. We have focused on engaging students in their learning, supporting their well-being and preparing them for the opportunities ahead.

The North Shore has been my home for more than 24 years. As a parent, volunteer and community leader, I have contributed to municipal planning, social policy, recreation and transportation, giving me a strong understanding of the connections between our schools and community.

If re-elected, I will continue advocating for excellent public education, responsible stewardship of public resources, investment in our schools, and opportunities for every student to discover their strengths, pursue their interests and graduate with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.
