Council Kids

Introducing Council Kids! Starting February 24, we’re offering free childminding services during regular Council meetings to make it easier for parents and caregivers to participate in local government.

Council KidsDrop your child off in a safe environment while you attend a Council meeting.

Things to know:

  • Council Kids will be offered during regular Council meetings. Here’s the Council meeting schedule.
  • Available for kids 18 months to 12 years old, for up to two hours per Council Meeting
  • Parents must remain on-site and accessible at all times
  • Located in the 2nd Floor / Atrium Community Room
  • There is no cost

Pre-registration is encouraged. Registration is open until 3pm on the Friday before the Monday night Council meeting. Please email North Shore Neighbourhood House to reserve your spot. A limited number of drop-in space is available. Child care provided by North Shore Neighbourhood House.

 

Childminding Reimbursement

If you’re unable to bring your kids to City Hall, but still wish to attend a Council meeting, a subsidy of up to $40 per meeting is available to cover individual child care costs. 

Requests for the subsidy must be made to the City within 20 days of the meeting and parents must complete the reimbursement form.
