Coach House Design Register

The City of North Vancouver is developing a register of coach houses designs and would like to invite you to submit a design.

In July 2018, Council unanimously supported amendments to the Zoning Bylaw aimed at improving the design and functionality of housing in One-Unit (RS) and Two-Unit (RT) neighbourhoods, while also facilitating more attainable housing options.

Council also directed staff to develop a register of coach house designs. The objective is to improve processing efficiency for coach house development applications by developing a register of designs which have already been vetted for compliance with the Accessory Coach House Development Permit Guidelines.


Submissions

Submitted Coach House designs will be reviewed by staff. All designs must comply with the Accessory Coach House Development Permit Guidelines.

The registry will be pulished on the City of North Vancouver’s website with the designer’s name and contact information attached.

At this time, a maximum of 3 submissions can be submitted per design firm.


Timeline

  • Proposals due by November 29, 2019 designs reviewed by staff.
  • Applicants will be notified if their design will be included in the on-line registry.
  • Accepted designs expected to be published on-line in Early 2020

How To Submit

Submit designs electronically to: planning@cnv.org

Submissions must include:

  • Application form
  • Checklist indicating how the proposal complies with the Accessory Coach House Development Permit Guidelines
  • Architectural Drawings (floor plans, elevations, proposed Gross Floor Area, proposed overall height, and any exemptions)

Drawings may be subject to the protections if the Federal Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42). The City disclaims any liability for the accuracy of the drawings and their use.
