Spirit of the Season Celebration

Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 4pm – 7pm

Join us at The Shipyards on Saturday, December 4th from 4pm to 7pm for the Spirit of the Season Celebration. There’s fun for the whole family including live music, twinkling lights, foods trucks, plus more surprises!  

Experience the magic of the City’s 40ft holiday tree with multi-coloured lights and star a-top. Mayor Linda Buchanan, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, officially light the tree at the foot of Lonsdale at 4:30pm. The City’s tree will stay lit for everyone to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Lots of Free Family-Friendly Activities:

  • A visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus
  • Performances by local school groups, ice skaters & dancers
  • Face painting, balloon animals | 5-7pm
  • Roving holiday characters for the kids | 5-7pm
  • Shipyards Artisan Christmas Market at The Pipe Shop | 10am-6pm
  • Skating at the Skate Plaza

To ensure a safe, fun evening for everyone, we encourage those attending to wear masks and give each other a little extra room for physical distancing. All booths will have a limit of participants and directions to line up if required. Keep an eye out for hand sanitizing stations throughout the site. Throughout the evening you may run into some familiar faces from your favourite holiday stories. While you’re welcome to say hi and snap a photo, please maintain a safe physical distance from our jolly visitors.

Spirit of the Season Continues

The Spirit of the Season kicks off December 4th, but the festive spirit lasts all month. The Shipyards will be transformed into a winter wonderland with twinkling lights and festive decorations, and there's plenty of holiday happenings planned throughout December.

Holiday Light Experience

December - January
Get into the spirit of the season with a stroll through The Shipyards holiday light displays, including the twinkling lights on The Pier, Wallace Mews and the iconic crane. There are plenty of festive photo opportunities for you and your loved ones.
