A new month brings new summertime activities to enjoy!

With so much to do and see, the City has put together a shortlist of FREE events and activities to explore during the month of August.

 

Hot Summer Nights at Ray Perrault Park on August 6

Get ready for more Hot Summer Nights in the City! The North Vancouver City Fire Department (NVCFD) will host its second Hot Summer Nights community event today, Thursday, August 6, at Ray Perrault Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

During the event, participants can meet the local fire prevention team, take a tour of the fire truck and equipment, participate in family-friendly activities and giveaways, and enjoy a welcome cool-down! Keep in mind that all water activities are subject to Metro Vancouver water restrictions and all activities are weather permitting.

Sunset Cinema at City Parks on August 7 & 14

Open-air movie nights continue this month with free screenings on August 7 and 14 at parks throughout the City.

Bring your own chair, snag a spot and enjoy a free movie screening that starts at sundown—usually between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. For those that arrive early, lawn games and kids activities will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Classic Sundays at The Shipyards Throughout August

Classic Sundays are back! The City has teamed up with young jazz musicians to bring smooth sounds to weekend afternoons at Shipbuilders’ Square stage.

Visit The Shipyards to unwind, relax and enjoy the music from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the following Sundays:


Lunchtime Live at Civic Plaza on Tuesdays in August

Lunchtime Live continues at Civic Plaza on Tuesdays from noon until 1:30 p.m. Mark your calendars for musical performances on August 11, 18 and 25, plus a rescheduled show featuring artist Angie Faith on Sunday, August 16.

Find a seat or bring your own chair and blanket, and listen to live music as you enjoy the fresh air. For those wanting to extend their stay, jumbo yard games are available for public use from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fire Safe Family Day on August 15 at Semisch Park

On Saturday, August 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., join the North Vancouver City Fire Department (NVCFD) at Semisch Park for Fire Safe Family Day.

Families can meet the fire prevention team, learn some helpful fire safety tips, tour the trucks, take part in a selection of games and activities, and enjoy freebies and giveaways!

Long Summer Nights: Under the Lights on August 15

Looking for another unforgettable night at The Shipyards? Join us for Long Summer Nights: Under the Lights!

On Saturday, August 15, get ready for an evening featuring live entertainment at Shipbuilders’ Square stage, food trucks and carts from local vendors, sips at the licensed beverage garden, an umbrella lounge and one-of-a-kind waterfront views. Musical performances begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m.

The Kids Zone starts at 3 p.m. and features workshops from the Vancouver Circus School, jumbo lawn games, INK temporary tattoos, Street Kings pop-up breakdancing performances and Table Tutors Youth DJs.
