Have an idea that could make a difference for children and youth in the City of North Vancouver? The City is now accepting applications for the 2026 Children and Youth Initiatives Fund, providing grants to help bring community-led programs, events and projects to life.
Since 1998, the fund has supported initiatives that create opportunities for local children and youth, strengthen community connections and help reduce social, economic and physical barriers to participation.
Funding for Youth-Led Ideas
Young people between the ages of 12 and 21 can apply for grants of up to $500 to turn their ideas for events, clubs and projects into reality.
Previous youth-led initiatives have included a safe-space colouring club, computer coding classes and a sustainable gardening workshop. Funding can help cover costs such as space and equipment rentals, promotion, entertainment and refreshments.
Funding for Community Organizations
Local non-profits, community groups and agencies serving children and youth can apply for up to $3,000 to support youth-focused projects, programs and events.
Previous grants have helped fund mentorship programs, 2SLGBTQIA+ clubs, wellness resources and other initiatives designed to create welcoming and supportive opportunities for young people. Funding may be used toward eligible staffing and program expenses.
Supporting Young People Across North Vancouver
In 2025, the City awarded 14 grants to community organizers and groups delivering programs, clubs and events for local children and youth.
Funded initiatives included Carson Graham Secondary’s community gardens, School District 44’s Queer Prom and Pride Month celebrations, an Indigenous canoe-building program and a school-wide weaving project initiated by Boundary Elementary.
These projects demonstrate how locally led ideas can create opportunities for young people to build skills, find community, celebrate their identities and participate in experiences that might not otherwise be available.
Who Can Apply?
Organizations applying for funding must:
- Be a registered non-profit with a B.C. Society Number and/or Charitable Registration Number
- Serve residents of the City of North Vancouver
- Pursue funding sources in addition to City of North Vancouver Community Grants
- Provide proof of financial responsibility, including their latest financial statement
Additional eligibility requirements may apply depending on the type of grant requested.
