Lower Lonsdale has been named one of the “coolest” neighbourhoods in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine.
The August 2026 issue offers a list featuring the “coolest places to eat, drink and explore in Canada”. Maclean’s local editors and experts have written “love letters” to each neighbourhood with Lower Lonsdale joined by areas like Calgary’s Inglewood and Toronto’s Davenport Districts.
“Being named by Maclean's as one of Canada's Coolest Neighbourhoods is a wonderful recognition and one that our entire city can be proud of. Lower Lonsdale is a vibrant waterfront community where local businesses, restaurants, culture, creativity, and stunning views come together,” said City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan.
“This recognition reflects the passion of the residents, entrepreneurs, artists, and everyone who calls Lower Lonsdale home. As a City, we remain committed to investing in a walkable, welcoming neighbourhood that supports local businesses, celebrates our waterfront, and creates spaces where people can connect and thrive.”
The City of North Vancouver continues to gain recognition nationally for its dynamic public and cultural spaces, and most notably, for its livability. The City was ranked as the “Most Livable City in Canada” for two consecutive years in The Globe and Mail’s 2024 and 2025 Most Livable Canadian Cities Report.
