A New Normal for Our City

As COVID-19 restrictions loosen across the province, the City of North Vancouver is taking a careful, phased approach to reopening some facilities and restarting City services with the focus being on health and safety.

The City’s Restart is in line with the Province of BC’s Restart Plan. The City will focus on keeping the number of contacts low by enabling physical distancing, recommending mask-wearing inside City buildings, providing onsite modifications as needed, and continuing with enhanced cleaning protocols.

The City's Response to COVID-19

The City continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our community’s physical and economic health. We’ve restructured how City Hall operates so that we can continue to provide core services.

Municipalities are guided by local, provincial and federal health authorities on health matters. Vancouver Coastal Health and the BC Centre for Disease Control advise the risk of transmission in the region remains low, yet active measures are required to address the spread of the virus. The City coordinates its response to COVID-19 based on advice and direction from public health officials and the provincial health authorities.

The City's Restart Plan

As we look to the future, we have developed a plan that focuses on delivering essential services to our community, restarting our own operations, and providing support to local businesses.

The CNV Restart Plan closely mimics the BC Restart Plan, with four careful steps focused on getting back to normal. The City’s Plan has been informed by senior levels of government and WorkSafeBC.

We’ll continue to monitor and adhere to guidelines as the pandemic evolves.

Mask Guidance

As of July 1, 2021, masks are recommended in indoor public settings for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will not be requested by City staff.

Programs, Operations and Services

The City of North Vancouver continues to provide essential services. Public services are available at City Hall between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Online services are available 24/7 and City staff provide service via telephone between 8:30am and 5pm.

North Shore Emergency Operations Centre

The City is working with the Districts of North Vancouver and West Vancouver at the virtual Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). This approach allows us to be consistent and to strategically coordinate emergency planning related to COVID-19 across the North Shore. The virtual EOC is staffed by employees from all three municipalities and offers operational, logistic, planning and financial coordination and support. Social and community impacts are another area of focus in the virtual EOC.
