The City of North Vancouver is developing a comprehensive Parks & Public Space Plan to guide how outdoor spaces are planned for, connected, enhanced, and invested in as the community continues to grow. Parks and public spaces play a vital role in daily life, supporting recreation, relaxation, social connection, and access to nature. These spaces include everything from large natural areas and neighbourhood parks to plazas, streets, trails, playgrounds and laneways.
Parks and public spaces are essential to everyday life in North Vancouver. They support physical activity, social interaction, and environmental resilience. As a system, they are how people move through the city, play, gather and enjoy nature.
The plan will focus on the full system of parks and outdoor public spaces across the City and examine the activities they offer, how they are distributed, and how they function together as a connected system. It will provide practical tools to guide decision-making and will help prioritize investments that make a meaningful impact for people and the natural environment.
