To our community,
The loss of a North Vancouver resident cyclist in yesterday’s tragic collision is devastating. We again extend our heartfelt condolences to family, friends and community.
We trust that the RCMP investigation will be a thorough and complete examination of the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event and we will do everything we can to support their efforts. In tandem, we have begun our own review to determine if there are any additional actions that the City could take to enhance the safety of road users in this area.
The City of North Vancouver is a mobility-forward community with cycling being a primary mode of transportation for many of our residents. The safety of everyone who uses our roads and walkways is essential to a healthy city. This is why we prioritize investing in our bicycle route network and creating protected bike lanes and off-street pathways.
We offer our thanks to members of the nearby construction crew who rushed to the scene to render first aid and to emergency responders for their quick response to the scene. For anyone who might need additional support during this difficult time, there are people ready to help. Resources can be found on our website and through services such as the BC Crisis Line (1-800-784-2433) and or Mental Health line (310-6789).
