Grants and Awards to Celebrate Environmental Sustainability

March 28, 2023

Applications for the City of North Vancouver’s Living City Grant and Awards program are now open until Sunday, April 23, 2023.

The Living City Grant and Awards program supports and celebrates environmental sustainability champions and activities that align with the City’s commitment to being a community that leads the way in climate action and acts as a steward of the environment for future generations.

Grants for Green Ideas

The Living City Grant program provides funding to non-profit and community groups for community-based environmental sustainability initiatives. The average grant awarded is $1,500-$3,000.

In 2022, grants were awarded in support of various environmental initiatives, including food literacy workshops by the Edible Garden Project, stream health and protection education programming facilitated by the North Shore Streamkeepers, and the development of orienteering courses led by the Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club.

Awards for Environmental Leadership

The Living City Awards Program recognizes environmental champions in our community who are leading the way in sustainability and inspiring others to take action.

Last year’s award winners included Queen Mary Community Elementary School for integrating sustainable food systems education into its school culture and curriculum, and Sam Starr, an active transportation champion and one of the organizers of the inaugural North Shore Cargo Bike Festival.

Application and Deadline Information

The deadline to apply for both the grants and awards is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Submissions will be reviewed by the City’s Advisory Planning Commission.
