Did you eat at a food truck in the City this summer? The City is seeking feedback on the Mobile Food Services Pilot Program that ran earlier this year to guide future decision-making on mobile food service policies.
Customers, mobile food vendors and local businesses are encouraged to share their experiences with the food truck pilot program by participating in our online survey at letstalk.cnv.org/FoodTrucks. The survey is open from Thursday, November 10 until Friday, November 25 at 4 pm.
In May 2022, the City launched a new Mobile Food Services Pilot Program to respond to public demand and encourage the growing food truck industry - particularly in places where food options are limited. The program helped simplify the application process for vendors and opened up new opportunities for food trucks and carts, both in numbers and locations. The program ran until October 30.
The input from this engagement and the results of the program will be presented to Council in December 2022.
Supporting a Growing Industry
The mobile food service sector is growing in popularity across the region and adding vibrancy and amenities to outdoor spaces. Mobile food services also bring opportunities for tourism and community connection, as well as support employment and entrepreneurship, and enhance local foodie scenes with food from diverse cultures at reasonable prices.
