Celebrate the Season

As 2018 draws to an end, we extend a warm invitation to join us as the City sparkles with holiday cheer!

Throughout the month of December, the City will celebrate the holiday season with numerous events for the entire family to enjoy. From the Christmas Festival at The Shipyards to the North Vancouver City Firefighter's Christmas Tree Chip-up, we invite you to celebrate the season with us. Bundle up, get outside and enjoy the numerous seasonal light displays throughout the City this holiday season.

Christmas Music in Civic Plaza

Fire Department Toy Drive

November 26 - December 18
City Fire Hall 165 East 13th Street, North Vancouver

Our City Fire Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the holiday season. Help bring holiday cheer to children, tweens, teens and families in need by dropping off toys at the City Fire Hall until December 18th. Please note: Toys must be in original packaging. Handmade dolls and woodwork items in new condition will also be accepted.  No perishable food items.  All donations are given to Family Services of the North Shore.


Pipe Shop at The Shipyards

Several holiday markets are taking place at the Pipe Shop during the month of December.

  • December 15 from 10am – 6pm & December 16 from 10am - 5pm
    Shipyards Christmas Market: over 50 local vendors. Free admission.

Park & Tilford Holiday Hi-Light Festival

November 30 - December 31 | 5 - 9PM daily
Park & Tilford Gardens, 333 Brooksbank Avenue, North Vancouver

Park & Tilford is set to light up the season with the 30th annual Holiday Hi-Light Festival at Park & Tilford Gardens. This annual event features a majestic festival of lights with over 150,000 lights on display over 3 acres.
Entry is by donation with proceeds going to support the North Vancouver firefighters, and their various appointed charities. Event info.

Opening Night: November 30 | 7-10pm
Free hot chocolate, live entertainment and a Light Up countdown to be enjoyed by all.  Join Mayor Buchanan for the opening night light up at 7pm.

Family Nights December 7, 14 & 21 | 5:30-9pm
Family Friday Nights feature a variety of live entertainment and fun, plus a visit from Santa Claus.


Santa's Workshop - Lower Lonsdale BIA

You’ll find Santa and his elves at Mo’s General Store (51 Lonsdale Avenue) on Saturdays & Sundays from now until December 23.  Take a photo with Santa and vote on your favourite wreath. More info at Lower Lonsdale BIA.

North Vancouver City Firefighters Christmas Tree Chip-Up
January 5, 2019 | 8:30AM - 4:30PM
Rona Parking Lot at Park & Tilford

Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree after the holidays? Recycle it! Drop by with your tree and enjoy a free hot dog, coffee or hot chocolate. All proceeds go to the North Vancouver City Firefighters’ Foundation.



City Seasonal Displays

A number of bright and beautiful light displays are located throughout the City. Decorative lights adorn the trees in Civic Plaza and City Hall is decked out in holiday style. Lonsdale Avenue is glowing from Esplanade to 23rd Street, bringing festive cheer to the City. The Shipyards also shines with twinkling lights.
