Councillor Jessica McIlroy

As I begin my first term on City Council I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the members of the community and work to ensure that the City of North Vancouver is one of the most liveable cities in the world.

Professionally, I am a sustainable energy strategist passionate about driving change to realize social and climate justice. With approximately fifteen years of experience in clean energy and climate action, I have continually looked for and created opportunities to change policy, behaviour and industry practices. I am currently working part time with the Climate Reality Project Canada and their Community Climate Hub Initiative, and most recently worked also with Smart Grid Northwest, an electricity grid modernization industry association.

Academically, I’m always looking for opportunities to learn and expand my skills. I’ve completed a BSc in Environmental Science, an MSc in Environmental Sustainability, an MBA in Executive Management, a Certificate in Climate Change Decision Making, and the THNK School of Creative Design Executive Leadership Program.

In the community, I’m currently the Chair of the Queen Mary Community Elementary School PAC. Through my role as a Councillor, I sit on the Metro Vancouver Climate Action Committee and am a member of the BC Municipal Climate Leadership Council and the Climate Caucus.

My husband and I live with our two daughters in the Central Lonsdale area and are proud to continually look for ways to engage in and support our community.
