Mosquito Creek Bridge Replacement Project

Roadwork and construction occurs throughout the City on an intermittent basis. During these times, the City advises residents and commuters to expect minor traffic delays and parking disruptions and to choose an alternate route if possible. Signage is posted prior to any road closures and regular updates are provided below.

We recognize the inconvenience roadwork may cause, and thank you for your understanding and patience.

100 & 200 blocks of East 29th St July 20, 2021 July 23, 2021 City road crews will be restoring asphalt trenches in the 100 and 200 blocks of East 29th Street. Paving is dependent on dry weather and the project may be delayed or extended if conditions are not satisfactory. Temporary parking restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the repairs. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be single lane in both directions, and traffic control personnel will be on site. Hours of work: 8am-5pm.
Lonsdale @Keith Road (north) July 19, 2021 September 30, 2021 Construction of new traffic signal. During work hours expect lane closures on Lonsdale; road to be fully opened after work hours. Hours of work: Monday-Friday 9am-3pm.
200 block West Esplanade July 19, 2021 August 16, 2021 City staff will be decommissioning a water main from 1911. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction and diverted to the north side of Esplanade. The eastbound bike lane will be closed and detoured depending on the construction stage. Flag personnel will be on site. Hours of work: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.
100 block Carrie Cates Court July 14, 2021  July 31, 2021 Installation of overhead illuminated crosswalk signs. During work hours traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating but sidewalks and crosswalks will be open. Hours of work: 8:30am-5pm. (note: no work will occur July 19)

Removal of existing pavement markings and installation of new markings at the following locations:

  • Bewicke and Marine
  • Chesterfield and 20th
  • Cotton and Kennard
  • Keith and Heywood
  • Larson and Westview
  • Mackay and 3rd
  • St. Georges and 15th
  • St. Georges and Keith

During work hours, lane closures will be in effect. Hours of work: 9am-3pm.

100 block W 6th St July 5, 2021 July 31, 2021 Watermain replacement project. Closest to Lonsdale Ave - expect full street closure with no access to/from Lonsdale until July 23. The rest of the street can be accessed from Chesterfield, but you won't be able to get through to Lonsdale.
Esplanade between Semisch & Mahon July 5, 2021 August 3, 2021 Water main replacement on Esplanade, between Semisch and Mahon.
200 block W 6th St & north lane June 21, 2021 July 16, 2021 The 200 block W 6th St and lane north of 200 block W 6th St (full road and lane closure adjacent to 242 W 6th St) for installation of sidewalk, curb, gutter, catch basin and asphalt paving. Hours of work: 7am-5pm.
Chesterfield between W 6th St & W Keith Rd May 31, 2021 July 30, 2021 Lonsdale Energy Corporation installing district energy interconnection. As construction continues, individual blocks will be closed during construction hours and open only for bike lanes and local traffic. Hours of work: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, Saturday 9am-7pm (if required).
Marine Drive from W 15th St to Bewicke Ave February 18, 2020 Summer 2021 Mosquito Creek Bridge replacement project. Construction is underway and will take place in three phases. Expect delays and detours, and some evening and weekend closures. Alternate route recommended. More info: www.cnv.org/MosquitoCreekBridge
