Dig Into How Your City Works: Join the City’s First Public Works Open House

Residents are invited to the City of North Vancouver’s first Public Works Open House, taking place on Saturday, May 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City’s Operations Centre.

This free, family-friendly event offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the teams and machinery that keep our community running every day. The event will feature interactive activities for attendees to experience how streets are maintained, water systems operate and parks are cared for. 


Discover the Work Behind Your City

Public works professionals play a vital role in maintaining the infrastructure and services that support daily life in North Vancouver—from roads and water systems to parks and environmental stewardship. 

At the Open House, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet the dedicated staff who plan, build and maintain City infrastructure 
  • Get up close with vehicles and equipment 
  • Learn how services such as roads, utilities, waste management and parks are delivered 
  • Explore interactive displays and hands-on activities for all ages

National Public Works Week 

This free, hands-on, all ages experience is in celebration of National Public Works Week, raising awareness of the importance of public works while recognizing the professionals working behind the scenes. This year’s theme is “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.”
