December is here and so is the beginning of winter! Start celebrating with some of the City’s free, family-friendly events taking place this month.
Winter Wonderland in Central Lonsdale, Fridays in December
Holiday wonder and cheer returns to the parklets in Central Lonsdale. Visit City parklets along Lonsdale Avenue from 14th to 17th Street for festive activities, roaming performers, live music, winter treats and other seasonal entertainment on the following Friday afternoons:
Season of Giving Drive-Thru on Thursday, December 11
Hosted by the North Vancouver City Fire Department (NVCFD), visit the Season of Giving Drive-Thru on December 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to make a meaningful contribution to local families. For two hours, community members can pull in, stay comfortable in their vehicles and spread generosity by donating items.
The following gifts will be accepted during the two-hour event:
- New, unwrapped toys
- New or used books
- Non-perishable food items
- Cash donations
As a thank you, each vehicle that donates will receive free hot chocolate and candy canes at the end of the drive-thru route.
Can’t make it to the Fire Hall on December 11? Through the annual Toy Drive, the NVCFD will be accepting new, unwrapped and unperishable toys during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) from now until December 19.
Frozen Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 13
Join us for a magical community celebration at the Frozen Winter Wonderland! Located at Civic Plaza, between City Hall and the City Library, step into a sparkling Winter Wonderland for a meet n’ greet with Anna and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen.
Rain or shine, come down on December 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a day filled with winter characters, free hot chocolate, live entertainment and hands-on activities.
Winter Wonderlane on Thursday, December 18
In partnership with the Lower Lonsdale Business Improvement Area (LLBIA), Play CNV’s Living Lane in Lower Lonsdale will be brought to life this season as a picturesque Winter Wonderlane!
Stop by on December 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to enjoy a car-free space offering complimentary winter-themed activities including crafts, hot chocolate, pop-up performances and a chance to win exciting prizes.
