The City of North Vancouver along with neighbour District of North Vancouver have been jointly named Canada's most livable city for the second consecutive year by the Globe and Mail newspaper.
This annual list analyzes data from 454 Canadian cities using variables across a number of categories and variables including economy, housing, demographics, healthcare, safety, education, transportation and public amenities like parks and public spaces.
North Vancouver (combining City and District) was ranked first in the large city category for populations between 100,000 and 499,999. The cities were noted for key measures of livability like access to nature, walkable neighbourhoods, and for dynamic public spaces and amenities like The Shipyards, parks, shopping and recreation facilities.
“This recognition, for the second consecutive year, reflects the remarkable collective effort of our community that makes North Vancouver a place where people can truly thrive,” said Mayor Linda Buchanan. “It affirms our shared commitment to improving the quality of life while also reminding us that livability is something we must continually strive for each day. We celebrate this collective achievement and recommit to the future we are building — a city where happiness, wellbeing, and belonging are central to everything we do. Together, we will keep building a city that puts people first and sets the standard for livability across Canada.”
