This afternoon marked the official opening of a new childcare facility in the Moodyville neighbourhood.
The Innova Childcare Centre, located in a new mixed-use, multi-family building on East 3rd Street, will provide 16 spaces for children aged 1-5. It will be operated by not-for-profit North Shore Neighbourhood House.
“Accessible, high-quality childcare is central to the livability of our community and the wellbeing of all residents,” said City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan. “It supports the healthy development of children, gives working parents peace of mind, and strengthens the local economy. That’s why we welcome the commitment from Cascadia Green Development and North Shore Neighbourhood House to deliver these much-needed spaces to the city. Expanding childcare capacity demonstrates our shared priority in supporting families and building a more inclusive, resilient, and thriving city for everyone.”
The Innova Childcare Centre is being delivered as part of an amenity agreement between the City of North Vancouver and the developer of the Innova building, Cascadia Green Development. The facility increases progress toward the target of 1000+ licensed childcare spaces outlined in the City’s 2021 Childcare Action Plan. The City of North Vancouver will have created 211 new licensed childcare spaces since 2021, including 53 new spaces in 2025 alone.
“North Shore Neighbourhood House childcare programs are committed to nurturing and guiding young children,” said North Shore Neighbourhood House Executive Director, Lisa Hubbard. “The Innova Childcare Centre will provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for activities that help children progress in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We are so pleased to work with the City of North Vancouver and add this beautiful childcare centre to the other under five and school-aged sites we operate.”
