Celebrate Rivers Day this Sunday at Mosquito Creek Park

Join the City of North Vancouver for an exciting day of fun, learning, and community spirit at our annual Rivers Day Celebration this Sunday, Sept. 28, at Mosquito Creek Park (1650 Fell Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

This free, family-friendly event features hands-on activities that celebrate the importance of healthy rivers and thriving local ecosystems. Whether you are helping to protect our waterways or enjoying fun activities with friends and neighbors, it is a day full of discovery and action. 


Event Highlights:

  • Volunteer with City Park Stewards: Help remove invasive plants and restore native habitat
  • Kids activities: Paint your own bat box, blow bubbles, and get creative with chalk art
  • Bike Repair Café: Get a free tune-up from experienced mechanics from Our Community Bikes
  • Live music
  • Free plant giveaway
  • Interactive booths: Connect with local groups including the North Shore Streamkeepers, Native Bee Society of BC, North Shore Black Bear Society, HUB Cycling, Recycle BC, City Fire Department and others

About the City Park Stewards

The City Park Stewards is a volunteer program aimed at improving the ecological health of our parks and natural areas. Throughout the year, volunteers take part in important restoration activities like planting native plants and removing invasive species. About World Rivers Day

World Rivers Day is an annual celebration of the world’s waterways, observed on the fourth Sunday of September. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourage the improved stewardship of waterways around the world. 

The City has been celebrating Rivers Day with a community event for many years, bringing together local residents to engage in hands-on activities and learn about protecting our local waterways and the ecosystems that rely on them.
