City Hall Holiday Hours and Seasonal Reminders

The City of North Vancouver wishes everyone a warm, happy and safe holiday season. During the winter holidays, the City is adjusting its hours while ensuring core services remain available.

City Hall Hours

City Hall provides services to the public in-person, online and over the phone. From December 22 to January 2, City Hall will be open for regular business hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the following exceptions:

Regular City Hall hours will resume on January 2, 2026.

The Operations Centre Remains Open

The City’s Operations Centre is open 365 days a year to ensure the City’s critical services can continue. Operational City Crews will be monitoring parks, trails, waterways, roads, weather events and more throughout the winter holidays.

For sewer, water, drainage, construction, fallen trees or road emergencies during regular business hours, call 604-987-7155. Residents may continue to reach the City’s Operations Emergency After Hours Line at 604-988-2212.

Online Services

The public can always stay connected through the City’s 24/7 online services available at cnv.org/OnlineServices. These include:

  • CityCollect: Providing updates and reminders for curbside collection, including Green Bin and recycling.

Additional Seasonal Reminders

Residents are reminded to keep the following in mind during the winter holiday season:

Garbage and Curbside Collection

There will be changes to garbage and Green Bin collection schedules. Download the CityCollect app for updates and notifications about your neighbourhood or visit cnv.org/CurbsideCollection and cnv.org/Garbage

Holiday Waste and Recycling

Less means more! The City encourages everyone to think about their holiday waste and how the season can be celebrated more sustainably. Consider shopping local to emit fewer emissions, wrapping gifts in reusable fabrics or recyclable packaging, swapping out incandescent lights for LED and turning during down the heat when away from the home. To ensure any recyclable wrappings are properly disposed of, stay up-to-date on recycling schedules over the winter holidays by visiting the Recycle BC website.

Heavy Rainfall and Snow

As the days grow colder, the City may experience increased rain or even snow. Over the holidays, City Crews will continue to monitor weather events to minimize impact to the community. Download the Alertable App to remain in the loop on crucial updates.

When it rains, City Crews clear catch basins in hot spots and monitor low-lying areas for potential flooding, including closing roads and trails for safety as needed. Residents can do their part to prepare for heavy rainfall by:

  • Clearing catch basins near the home
  • Clear and maintain household gutters
  • Stay clear of fast-flowing waterways and unstable banks
  • Check home balconies and patios and ensure items are secured or brought inside

Before it snows, City Crews pre-treat roads with salt and brine to help prevent slippery conditions. When snow and ice are in the forecast, crews are dispatched to clear roads (on a priority basis), multi-use pathways and trails. Residents can do their part to prepare for snow by:

  • Having an emergency kit ready in the home, workplace and car
  • Stocking up on food, water and ensuring that any prescriptions are filled
  • Purchasing and installing quality snow tires for winter driving
  • Keeping a shovel and supply of salt handy for sidewalks and driveways
  • Monitoring local weather reports, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Emergency Info BC and community sources
  • Making a back-up plan for commuting in winter weather and checking with TransLink and DriveBC for updates
