City Celebrating Earth Day With Community Event

April 16, 2024
The City of North Vancouver is celebrating Earth Day with an invasive plant pull and family-friendly event including games, activities and community booths. The event is taking place Saturday, Apr. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Moodyville Park.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide in April that aims to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement across the globe.

During the City’s Earth Day event, volunteers with the City Park Stewards will undertake ecosystem restoration activities in the park including removing invasive plants. In addition to the planting, this all-ages event will feature:
  • Children’s activities
  • A bike repair café
  • Hands-on ivy weaving demonstrations
  • Interactive Information booths, including the North Shore Streamkeepers, HUB Cycling, North Shore Black Bear Society, Native Bee Society of BC, City Fire Department, Lonsdale Energy Corporation, Metro Vancouver Nutrifor and more.
The event is free to attend. Registration is required to volunteer in the invasive plant pull. To learn more about the event and to register to volunteer, visit cnv.org/EarthDay

About the Bike Repair Café
The free bike repair café will feature one-on-one hands-on maintenance sessions led by experienced mechanics from the PEDAL Society. Mechanics will provide tune-ups, diagnostics, answer questions and provide repair advice. One-on-one sessions are first come, first served and only one bike per session per person. E-bikes are accepted, however, mechanics will only look at mechanical components.
