Checklist for Locations

Message to TALs/Film Office Admin

Just for you - an at a glance checklist with related links and timeline restrictions.  (Not sure where the City boundaries are – check this page) .

Here is the link to our Film Permit Application (a new form per location please) and to our Filming Procedures

When your permit is APPROVED we will need the following:

  • Certificate of Insurance (Naming The City of North Vancouver additional insured)
  • $5,000 Security Deposit (please make your cheque payable to the City of North Vancouver).  I can draw on this amount for your fees if that is your Production’s preference.
  • If you need on-street parking I need your requirements ASAP indicated on a Google Map (or even better, on our GIS CityMap which shows house numbers, etc.)     IMPORTANT Please note that the City bylaw is for residents to have 72‑hours’ notice of removal of on-street parking*.   And we only have one sign shop staff – therefore that means we need 5 working days to print up and sign on‑street parking for filming.  (*there are areas with exceptions – but not many)
  • Are you planning on closing a Street or intermittent, short duration road closures?  If so -  I need this Street Use Application (ASAP please, this one can take time to get the approvals in place)
  • A completed Electrical Permit Application (if using an electrical generator on site) and your Electrical Contractor Authorization Declaration (a new form per location please)    If you need it for a year it is $750.  A one-time use permit is $102.
  • Your letter to residents and/or businesses for our approval.  This is to be delivered BEFORE we put out the “no parking” signage.

RCMP

For booking RCMP personnel please can you contact the RCMP at NVFSS@rcmp-grc.gc.ca  (please copy Filming@cnv.org as we will be charging for the hours).  Our RCMP is a small detachment, and occasionally struggle to fill filming requests, they need five working days’ notice.

Curfew

Normal working hours are 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 10pm on Sunday.

Fees

Here is the link to our fees

If your production office is based in the City of North Vancouver you do NOT need an additional business licence.

If you have questions please contact the Film Liaison an email at Filming@cnv.org
