In Office

1999 to present

Over the past decade the City of North Vancouver has emerged as a provincial and national leader in sustainable development. The City has won numerous awards for sound budgeting, for its initiatives to promote environmental sustainability, and for its commitment to ensuring a diversity of housing that meets the needs of children and families, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Our challenge in this term of Council will be to continue to build on these successes and to continue to find innovative ways to continue to promote a liveable and economically vibrant community.

To ensure that youth, families, and seniors can find a place in our community we need to continue to ensure that we embrace every opportunity to provide affordable housing alternatives.

We need to continue to invest in the important work of our community’s volunteer organizations.

We must continue to work on solutions that help businesses large and small, industrial and commercial expand and stay in North Vancouver and to continue to provide the good quality jobs on which we all depend.

We can confront climate change by providing transportation alternatives with an improved urban trail network for pedestrians and cyclists; by continuing to expand Lonsdale Energy Corporation's use of alternative energy sources; and by renewing our commitment to the creation of a reasonably dense and walkable community.

These will be my priorities in the coming term of Council and I welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively in achieving them.
