In addition to providing essential support services, the City operates
these facilities to meet the cultural and recreational needs of the citizens
of the City of North Vancouver. Information on a selection of City facilities

Adjacent to City Hall, the North Vancouver City Library houses
thousands of books, videos and audio recordings, and offers numerous
programs for people of all ages. The library is open for business

The City of North Vancouver Engineering Operations Division is
responsible for parks, utilities, streets maintenance and construction,
and solid waste collection.

Fire Hall

A 51-member contingent serves the City population. North Vancouver
City Fire Department offers guided tours of the Fire Hall free of
charge to youth organizations located in the geographic boundary

Waterfront Project Office

The City has established a Waterfront Project Office at the foot
of Lonsdale to facilitate development plans, and deliver business
and tourism opportunities to the area. The office is open to the
public, and residents are invited to visit the office for more information.

John Braithwaite Community Centre
145 West 1st Street
Named after a former long-serving City Councillor and community activist, the 35,000 sq. ft. centre is the City's latest contribution to community amenity space in Lower Lonsdale. The centre provides a wide range of social, recreation, health and general community use space for Lower Lonsdale and North Vancouver residents. For more information please click here.

The Pier
Foot of Lonsdale Avenue and Esplanade
The Pier is a public amenity for residents, tourists and the boating
community. It is transforming the waterfront into a major urban
destination. The larger Burrard Dry Dock Pier docks vessels of public
interest and hosts a variety of community events throughout the
year. The shorter St. Roch Dock accommodates smaller vessels and

North Shore Women's Centre

The North Shore Women's Centre (NSWC) provides essential services
for women who need support and guidance. The Centre was threatened
by possible closure when the BC government cut funding for women's
centres across the province. The City of North Vancouver responded
by stepping in to provide a rent-free facility that the NSWC could

The Harry Jerome Recreation Complex is the City's primary recreation
centre. City Council has initiated a planning study for the revitalization
of the complex to determine the type of facilities required to meet

Part of the Harry Jerome Recreation Complex, Memorial gym is located one block east of St. Andrews on East 23rd Street. In addition
to the gymnasium, amenities include a licensed pre-school and multi-purpose

Part of the Harry Jerome Recreation Complex, Mickey McDougall Gym is located one block east of Harry Jerome Recreation Complex at 23rd and St.

North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Building

The North Vancouver Lawn Bowling building has been home to avid
bowlers since 1923. The grounds feature two greens and a clubhouse.
This first class facility has approximately 300 members spanning

Ann MacDonald Studio
3rd St and Chesterfield
The Anne MacDonald Studio building was formerly St. Johns Anglican
Church and was built in 1899. In 1973, the congregation replaced
its original church and offered the building as a gift to the City,
if it was moved to a new site. The Arts Council recognized its historical
value and character and asked that it be added to the arts centre
(Presentation House) by moving it to its current location at 3rd
and Chesterfield. This rehearsal space is used for auditions, workshops,
rehearsals, dance classes and community events. More information

Presentation House

The Presentation House main building was built in 1902 as a school.
It currently houses the North Vancouver Museum and Archives, Presentation
House Gallery and Presentation House Theatre.

The PGE Station is a heritage building located at the foot of Lonsdale.

Gerry Brewer Building

The Gerry Brewer building is home to the North Vancouver Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the North Shore Emergency Management Office. As well, it houses the City of North Vancouver's Emergency Operations Centre (through NSEMO) and the North Shore Regional EOC.

Civic Centre/City Library, Library Development
The City of North Vancouver is engaged in a comprehensive strategic
approach to redevelop the City Library and surrounding area known
as Block 62. The new Civic Centre/City Library could include the construction
of a new Library immediately north of the current location, underground
parking facilities, a daycare centre and an extension to the existing
public plaza.

The Arts & Culture Commission of North Vancouver (ACCNV) is an arms-length agency that serves as an advisory board to the City of North Vancouver dealing with local cultural issues and servicing the arts/cultural needs of the community.

The Lower Lonsdale Community Policing Centre is an ongoing partnership between the RCMP and the community. A Station Police Officer is available to discuss solutions to particular issues as part of the RCMP's Problem Oriented Policing initiative.
