IN OFFICE: 1999 to present
It is our commitment to a vision of a sustainable community that has made North Vancouver one of the most liveable communities in the country and one that has won countless awards recognizing sensible and innovative urban development. This vision of sustainability is one that includes commitments to reducing our environmental footprint, to inclusiveness in our social make up, and to development that supports a vibrant and diverse business community.
The next three years will be ones of unprecedented challenges for our City shaped by larger global issues of economic uncertainty, climate change, food security, and others. I believe that we can face these challenges by renewing our commitment to our vision of sustainability.
We can confront climate change by providing transportation alternatives with an improved urban trail network for pedestrians and cyclists; by continuing to expand Lonsdale Energy Corporation's use of alternative energy sources; and by renewing our commitment to the creation of a reasonably dense and walkable community.
We can support our seniors, families, youth and those with special needs by supporting a diversity of housing forms close to the services people need and by continuing to work in partnership with non-profit agencies, with our First Nations neighbours, and with other levels of government.
Over the next three years of challenge and opportunity these will be my priorities and I welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively in achieving them.
