Celebrate Pride Week 2021

July 26, 2021

Mayor Linda Buchanan kicked off this year's celebrations by proclaiming July 26 to August 2 as Pride Week in the City and by raising the Pride Flag, Transgender Flag, and Bisexual Flag in Civic Plaza. City Hall is also lit up in the colours of the LGBTQIA2S+ Pride Flag all week long.

The 2021 Pride theme is Show Your Pride and the City invites everyone to come out in full colours, embrace the celebrations, and contribute to the vibrancy, health and overall well-being of the community.

“Pride is a celebration and a protest,” said Mayor Linda Buchanan, City of North Vancouver. “As we celebrate love, equity, and progress, Pride is also a reminder of past and present discrimination. Building a more inclusive, welcoming, and safe community for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities has long been a priority for me. I hope as a community we can stand together in solidarity to advance equity for LGBTQIA2S+ people. To the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the City I want to say that who you are matters. That you matter.”

The following free events are taking place in the city for all ages unless otherwise specified.
