Resident & Visitor Parking Permits

The City has a Resident & Visitor Parking Policy that assists City staff in managing the demand and supply of on-street parking within the City. Residents may obtain a permit for themselves and/or a visitor to utilize on-street parking on the block of their residence and be exempt from the existing parking time restrictions for up to 72 hours. These parking privileges are granted based upon, and subject to the conditions outlined in the policy.

Resident Parking Permit Types

There are two types of resident parking permits in the City, as follows.

Two-hour Resident Exempt Parking (RE)

  • Anyone can park for up to 2 hours between 9am and 6pm, with or without a permit.
  • Residents with a permit may park on-street for up to 72 hours.
  • Visitor and temporary permits may be purchased to account for guests, medical needs, contractors, etc (see policy document).
  • $25 fee for the RE permit.

Resident Permit Only (RPO)

  • Only residents of this block with a permit, car share vehicles, and people with disabilities may park between 9am and 6pm for up to 72 hours.
  • Visitor and temporary permits may be purchased to account for guests, medical needs, contractors, etc. (see policy document).
  • $50 fee for the RPO permit upon renewal of existing permit or application for new permit.

For more information please read the Resident & Visitor Parking Policy. If further clarification is required, please contact the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department at the City of North Vancouver.
