Nominate Youth for Civic Youth Awards and Scholarships

Do you know an amazing young member of the community who deserves to be recognized? The City of North Vancouver Civic Youth Awards and Youth Centennial Scholarship are now accepting applications until March 13, 2023. 

The City hosts the Civic Youth Awards each year during BC Youth Week (May 1-7) to celebrate the achievements and dedication of youth, youth groups, supporters of youth and youth friendly businesses within in the City of North Vancouver’s community.

About the Civic Youth Awards Program

The categories for recognizing individuals, groups or youth-friendly businesses include:

  • Rise Up Award - Recognizes youth who have overcome adversity and recorded noteworthy achievements in some line of endeavour, or have exhibited a commitment to personal change and growth. 
  • Give Back Award - Recognizes youth who have made positive contributions to the community on a voluntary basis such as serving on a committee and other volunteer work with organizations and groups. 
  • Kind Heart Award - Recognizes youth who have demonstrated an act of bravery, selflessness or notable deed for the betterment of another. 
  • Best Youth Friendly Biz Award - Recognizes a business that has performed an exceptional job in hiring or training youth, providing opportunities to youth, or providing funding for youth activities support. 
  • Awesome Ally Award - Recognizes an adult mentor or service club in providing support and services to youth.
  • Outstanding Squad Award - Recognizes a group of youth who have completed a minimum of 50 hours per person of community (or school) service resulting in a program or service of enhancement for their school or community.

Nomination Process

Winners are chosen through a review process by the Youth Awards Selection Committee and referred to North Vancouver City Council, who choose the finalists. Winners will be recognized and awarded by Mayor Linda Buchanan at City Hall during BC Youth Week in May. 

Scholarships for Grade 12 Graduates

In addition to the Youth Awards, the Youth Centennial Scholarship Program provides a $1000 scholarship administered by the North Shore Community Foundation, recognizing youth who have demonstrated community service and will be attending post-secondary in the fall.
