As the City of North Vancouver grows and changes, the Community Development Department supports and oversees the functions of long-term land-use planning, development planning, and community planning including social, youth, senior and housing initiatives. It is responsible for the issuance of business licenses, construction permits and carrying out all relevant inspections. The City's Official Community Plan and Construction Bylaw are documents coordinated by this department.
Permits & Inspections
The Permits and Inspections Division is responsible for the processing of applications for the issuing of building, electrical and plumbing permits including all relevant inspections.
The Planning Division undertakes negotiation of land use and development proposals received from residents and developers, and also implements long term plans and objectives as directed by Council. In addition, the Planning Division manages a variety of community issues, including youth development; senior programs and housing initiatives.
