Community Infrastructure

Community Infrastructure

The social, economic and environmental well-being of the City relies on a strong infrastructure that effectively delivers core services to the community. There are three components to building a solid community infrastructure: basic services, community planning, and management of the infrastructure.

Basic public services such as clean drinking water and an efficient road network are vital to creating a sustainable community, one where residents can enjoy a high quality of life and the City can protect the natural environment at an affordable cost.

Health and safety, accessibility and housing are also important aspects of community infrastructure and key components of the City's community planning work. When residents, businesses and visitors can enjoy a safe, supportive, stimulating environment, they can feel secure and thrive, which in turn benefits the community as a whole.

Management of the City's infrastructure is a core service. Existing infrastructure must be maintained amid new demands and pressures such as growth and technological change. Effective management of the City's assets also requires careful planning and balance. When the City is financial healthy, its public infrastructure can better accommodate growth in the community, making it easier for the City to meet the diverse needs of its citizens and advance its sustainability goals.

Protecting our natural environment is like investing in our future. If we do not take the time to develop a solid plan and monitor its progress, we could easily lose this vital natural asset. Learn how you can help the City invest in a green, sustainable future.
