Business Opportunities & Partnerships
Lower Lonsdale is one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods in BC. With this residential growth comes opportunity and the City expects more and more people to take advantage of the incredible business prospects in the area. Popular destinations such as Lonsdale Quay, the Pier, Waterfront Park and King's Mill Walk draw both local residents and international tourists. As well, the City has an established transportation infrastructure that can effectively support and efficiently connect businesses with suppliers and customers.
The City's Waterfront Project represents an opportunity for businesses to serve a growing community, one that is expected to become one of Greater Vancouver's most sought-after neighbourhoods and a prominent destination during the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games.
In keeping with the Official Community Plan, the City aims to aggressively pursue public and/or private users for the municipal portions of the waterfront site. The City is also exploring potential partnerships with the Squamish Nation for the planned waterfront walkways and working with community organizations such as the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Commission on programs aimed at revitalizing the foot of Lonsdale.
The City is considering various ways to support components of the Waterfront Project. A Community Enhancement Fund, Lower Lonsdale Legacy Fund and Lonsdale Amenity Fund have already been established. Other funding opportunities the City is pursuing include:
