East 3rd St Infrastructure Improvements

As of April 9, the City and Lonsdale Energy Corporation will begin two major infrastructure projects along East 3rd Street. Although these projects are separate, the work is being coordinated to minimize the impact on residents, businesses and commuters.

Partial road closures, parking restrictions and traffic delays should be expected. Please plan an alternate route when possible. Access to residences and businesses will remain open. Transit will continue to use East 3rd Street and bus stops will be temporarily relocated by TransLink. The work is anticipated to conclude by late September.

Watermain Installation

Location: East 3rd Street from St. David’s to Queensbury
Expected duration: April 9 – late July 2018
Hours of work: Monday to Friday: 8am – 4:30pm

The City is upgrading critical water infrastructure on East 3rd Street from St. David’s to Queensbury. Access to the south sidewalk and the south side parking lane will be restricted in the block of active construction.

Every effort will be made to retain boulevard street trees but some trees may require removal. Replacement trees will be planted in the fall, ensuring an increase in the number of street trees.

How will this project improve the City?
The watermain being replaced is approximately 75 year old. This work will ensure adequate flow of high quality water to the surrounding neighbourhood.
