Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions offered year round in the City of North Vancouver. In addition to our parks and natural areas, we invite you to visit our special theatres, galleries, gardens and museums. The Pier

The City's newest attraction offers stunning scenery and a walk back in time. The Burrard Dry Dock Pier is a 700-foot long public walkway that extends into Burrard Inlet and is a moorage point for large and oversized vessels. A shorter floating dock called the St. Roch Dock accommodates smaller watercrafts and recreational boats. Officially opened on April 23, 2005 with a community-wide celebration, the completely refurbished piers have helped to transform the waterfront. Visitors can expect a variety of marine themed and community events throughout the year.
Parks in the City
The City of North Vancouver is one of the most picturesque settings in the Lower Mainland. We invite you to discover the range of recreational opportunities and activities unique to the City. There are 40 parks located throughout the City, with each park offering a variety of trails, landscapes and facilities. Use our GIS Map tool to find the park of your choice. City Skate Park
Corner of Trans Canada Highway & Lonsdale Avenue
With 16,000 square feet of curbs, walls and ramps, the City's Skate Park is a "pure skate park" for the skateboard enthusiast. The Skate Park resembles an urban plaza and includes "hang-out" areas and a skate-able public art piece called the "Wave". The unique street-style design draws thousands of skaters from the local community, including the Lower Mainland and North America.
Mahon Spray Park
Jones Avenue & West 18th Street
The City's Mahon Spray Park provides hours of splish-splashy fun for kids and families. With more than 20 pieces of spray equipment, the Spray Park offers plenty of creative, interactive water elements. There are also three specially designed play areas: two for children under 5 years, and one for children 6 years and older. Thoughtfully designed seating areas offer a place for parents can sit and watch their children at play. Mahon Spray Park is open daily from May to October.
Trans Canada Trail Pavilion
Waterfront Park, North Vancouver
The North Shore Pavilion for the Trans Canada Trail is a heritage landmark and national monument honouring Canada's First Nations. As one of only three national level pavilions, the North Shore Pavilion marks the presence of the world's longest recreational trail. The Trans Canada Trail spans 17,900 kilometers of Canadian land from coast to coast, connecting people, cultures and communities.

Need a break? Take time to stop and smell the flowers. Stroll through the 'friendship gates' of the Lower Lonsdale Community Gardens, located next to the North Shore Neighbourhood House, a local community centre. Built in June 2004, this garden is host to almost 50 community garden plots for growing vegetables and flowers. Each plot is maintained by nearby residents from the surrounding dense urban environment of Lower Lonsdale. The garden provides a respite as well as opportunities for reconnecting with nature, not to mention the fresh vegetables the gardeners get to harvest for all their hard work. The garden is open to the public during the day to walk through and enjoy.

North Vancouver Museum & Archives

Established in 1972 as an agency of the City of North Vancouver, the North Vancouver Museum & Archives develops museum and archive services. Their exhibits feature such important area industries as logging and shipbuilding, and they have various special exhibits and events throughout the year. Educational events and services are also provided.

Centennial Theatre is a performing arts centre featuring 705 seats, a proscenium arch, a 25-musician orchestra pit, fabulous live acoustics, a spacious, modern lobby and a colourful, vibrant, neon art piece flowing from the fly tower. It is home to a variety of local and international performing artists, as well as host to seminars, film festivals, awards ceremonies, corporate workshops and movie productions.

Described as the largest non-profit photographic gallery in Western Canada, the Presentation House Gallery has offered a variety of contemporary and historical photographic and media exhibitions since 1981. Operated by The British Columbia Photography and Media Arts Society, the Gallery's mandate is to exhibit and disseminate photography and media art, emphasizing contemporary Canadian work within a context of historical and international art.

The Park & Tilford Gardens consists of eight European styled theme gardens set on 8 hectares. Beautifully landscaped with various floral displays, water fountains and bridges, the gardens are a spectacular retreat for visitors.
Chiba Garden
200 block of West Esplanade at Waterfront Park
Completed in 1986, this traditional Japanese garden was designed to commemorate the friendship between the City of North Vancouver and its Japanese sister city Chiba. In the garden, two streams originating from one source represent the friendship between these two cities. Chiba Garden is located in Waterfront Park in the 200 block of West Esplanade, and is open daily from 9am until sunset.

If shopping is what you are after, then Capilano Mall has "what reads, what writes, what's cool, and what bites". With 75 stores, including Sears and Wal-Mart, and monthly events calendar that offers a Kids' Craft Fair to Back-to-School events to seasonal sidewalk sale events, it is the City of North Vancouver's shopping destination. How about a movie after you have enjoyed dinner at one of the North Shore's outstanding restaurants? Visit the Esplanade 6 Famous Players theatre to catch the latest films from Hollywood. The movieplex houses six screens, is wheelchair accessible, and offers pay parking under the theatre. Esplanade 6 is conveniently located one block north of Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus terminal.
