Public Hearings, Public Meetings and Standing Committees of Council

The purpose of Public Hearings is to provide the public an opportunity to make representations to Council regarding proposed changes to zoning bylaws, heritage designations or the Official Community Plan. Public Hearings are regulated by the Local Government Act of BC.

The purpose of Public Meetings is to provide the public an opportunity to make representations to Council on various issues and proposed changes that do not require a Public Hearing. In this way, North Vancouver residents can participate in the civic process that may affect their community, property and interests.

There are 3 Standing Committees of Council: Finance Committee, Policy Committee and the Parks and Recreation Committee. Each of the Standing Committees of Council consist of all members of Council, to consider issues and make recommendations to Council.
