CSLA Regional Honour Award
In March, the City's Landscape Architect, Dave Hutch, received a Regional Honour Award for his work on the St. Andrew's Park re-development project.

International Sustainable Urban Systems Design Competition
The City of North Vancouver received international recognition when it was the featured community in Canada's award winning entry at the 2003 World Gas Conference in Toyko, Japan.
Judged by a blue ribbon international panel, Canada's citiesPLUS presentation showcasing a comprehensive urban plan for the Greater Vancouver area won first place honours. In particular, the City of North Vancouver was recognized for its innovation and leadership in sustainable development.
citiesPLUS was one of nine international teams which took on the challenge of preparing a 100-year urban plan for a major metropolitan area. The project team was headed by the Honourable Lloyd Axworthy with former BC premier Michael Harcourt presiding as Vice Chair. Team members included other government leaders, sustainable urban systems experts and members of the community.

CEBC Award of Merit
In 2001, both the City of North Vancouver and lead consultant Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Limited were jointly recognized for their successful completion of the Thain Creek Daylighting project.
The Consulting Engineers of British Columbia Awards for Engineering Excellence celebrate the ongoing commitment, outstanding achievements and vision for the future demonstrated by consulting engineers.
EcoAction Network Certificate of Environmental Citizenship
In 2001, the City of North Vancouver's Environmental Protection Program Committee (EPPC) was nominated to the EcoAction Network. Federal Environment Minister David Anderson confirmed the appointment. In recognition of the EPPC's environmental achievements and efforts to involve other members of the community to address environmental issues, the EPPC was awarded a Certificate of Environmental Citizenship.
The EcoAction Network is part of a larger Environment Canada program which supports community efforts and projects that protect, rehabilitate or enhance the natural environment, and builds the capacity of communities to sustain these activities into the future.

Go for Green National Trail Award
In June, the City of North Vancouver was presented a National Trail Award for its Mosquito Creek Trail and Riparian Enhancement Project.

BCLNA Environmental Stewardship Award
In November, the City of North Vancouver received an Environmental Stewardship Award for its naturescape landscaping approach in the area around City Hall and along the East 14th Street corridor.
The British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association's awards program honours individuals and organizations which demonstrate knowledgeable, responsible landscape practices.
